CDCP Dentist Near North York

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal dental benefit program that helps eligible Canadian residents access dental care.

CDCP may cover a range of eligible oral health services. Coverage depends on the type of treatment, CDCP requirements, frequency limits, and whether preauthorization is required.

Having CDCP coverage does not necessarily mean that every dental service will be fully covered or that there will be no out-of-pocket costs.

For the most current information about the program, visit the Government of Canada CDCP page.

Who May Be Eligible for CDCP?

Current CDCP eligibility requirements include all of the following:

  • You do not have access to private dental insurance or dental coverage through another source.

  • You have filed your tax return in Canada for the applicable year.

  • Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000.

  • You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

Eligibility is reviewed according to the program's requirements. Before scheduling treatment, check the current CDCP eligibility requirements provided by the Government of Canada.

What Dental Services Can CDCP Cover?

CDCP may cover a range of eligible dental services when they meet the program's requirements.

Coverage varies depending on the service and your individual circumstances. Some procedures are subject to frequency limits, while certain treatments may require preauthorization.

You can explore our general dentistry services to learn more about the dental care available at our clinic.

For complete and current information about covered services, visit the Government of Canada's CDCP coverage guide.

How Much Does CDCP Cover?

Your CDCP co-payment depends on your adjusted family net income. The percentage paid by CDCP applies to the CDCP-established fee for an eligible service, rather than necessarily to the dental office's total fee.

Additional costs may apply if:

  • The dental office's fee is higher than the CDCP-established fee.

  • CDCP does not cover the service.

  • The treatment exceeds an applicable frequency limit.

  • A procedure requires preauthorization and the applicable requirements are not met.

Before proceeding with treatment, ask about the expected CDCP coverage, your co-payment, and any additional amount you may need to pay.

Does CDCP Require Preauthorization?

Some dental treatments require preauthorization before CDCP will provide coverage.

When appropriate, your dentist can submit the proposed treatment for review to determine whether preauthorization is required and whether the treatment meets the applicable CDCP criteria.

Preauthorization does not necessarily mean that every cost associated with a procedure will be covered. Your dental provider can explain the proposed treatment and any expected patient costs before treatment begins.
